Baggage Check FAQ's
Can I leave a gym bag or backpack at the start or finish area?
No... For security reasons, race participants will be provided a clear backpack when they pick up their BIBS on race weekend. Baggage Check will be offered at the Schenectady YMCA just two city blocks from the start / finish of the race.
The YMCA and race organizers are not responsible for items that may be lost during baggage check. Baggage check is primarily for storing warm clothing to be retrieved immediately after the race. Discarded clothing left at the Veterans Park staging area after the race starts will be picked up by volunteers and donated to the city mission.
Valuables such as wallets/purses, jewelry, credit cards, iPhones, etc. should not be stored in these clear backpacks.
What is USATF? Do I need to be a USATF member to participate in the Stockade-athon?
USATF is the governing body for the sport of Distance Running and Track and Field. The Stockade-athon has had a successful partnership with USATF for 20+ years.
A runner is encouraged to become a member of USATF but membership is not required to participate in the race. However, if an athlete is competing for cash prize awards, or USATF team awards, a USATF membership is required.
USATF members also may qualify for additional non-cash awards.
The Stockade-athon awards cash prizes to USATF athletes who place in the Top 5 men and women and the Top 3 Masters men and women. Because the Stockade-athon offers both individual and team prize money and is a participating race in the Grand Prix series, a USATF member must provide the USATF membership number on their application entry.
A USATF Adirondack member is automatically entered into the Association 15K Championship and Grand Prix.
In addition, a USATF membership provides valuable benefits including supplemental health insurance to participants and volunteers who happen to get hurt during the Stockade-athon and other USATF sanctioned events.
